Stephanie  began practicing yoga in 2004, as a form of healing for chronic pain. She practiced on and mostly off until 2012, when she began a regular yoga and meditation practice to cope with perceived stress in her life.  She loves teaching yoga to help others find peace in the present moment by focusing inward. When not practicing yoga and meditation, Stephanie enjoys quiet time on a small farm with her husband, dogs, and chickens. Since 2003, she has worked as an Endangered Species Biologist, specializing in the fishes and freshwater mussels of the Tennessee River watershed. She holds a BS in Fisheries Biology and an MS in Environmental Science. As for hobbies, she enjoys snorkeling, canoeing, hiking, reading, crocheting, and weeding. She says, “Yes, weeding flower beds is one of my favorite mindfulness practices.” Stephanie’s Spiritual Name – Shantpreet Kaur – means the Princess/Lioness of God who is filled with peace and calmness as she shines with the loving light of the divine.  “It says that I connect with my soul by finding my loving peaceful center and focusing my consciousness there.” Stephanie says her personal goal is “to give individuals an experience of their true selves, so that true happiness and healing can occur.”

Stephanie completed her initial 200-hour yoga teacher training in 2013 under the direction of Stephanie Keach at the Asheville Yoga Center, and received RYT-200 status with the Yoga Alliance. In this program she was exposed to many types and styles of yoga, as well as Ayurveda, or Ancient Indian Medicine. In 2014, Stephanie also completed a Yin Yoga Intensive Training with Sheila Worsley.
